It’s strange entering years you once could barely fathom. There’s something specifically about 2021, though… the way it has taken the step forward into the 2020s, maybe, confirming yet again that time cannot stop moving forward.
✁
When I time travel to 2007 or 2011 or 2015, I remember what it feels like to be so unknowing. I remember what it feels like to be young and accept that I had no idea what it’d feel like, to have long-term romantic relationships or to pay bills with strict due dates. One thing I pay attention to each year, as I create goals and plans, is to ensure that I, at the very least, grow in my capacity for life. If each year I can handle one more mishap or surprise, then by the time I have responsibilities surrounding me on every side, I’ll be able to handle whatever those responsibilities push in my direction. That’s the idea, anyways. Another thing I pay attention to is my relationship with control. Do I want too much control or too little? I hope to never hand my life over to the universe, but likewise to never keep it so tight in my own grip it cannot grow alongside others. I have yet to define control, but I do know to keep it at a safe distance.
It feels good to tell others that I have a blog. I started my very first blog in 2011; I was 12 years old and I wanted to share my thoughts with the world. At the time, my posts mostly involved environmentalism or poetry. That being said, I’ll drop you an astrology note: If someone likes environmentalism and poetry, especially at any early age, check their chart for PISCES placements. Personally, it’s my MERCURY and VENUS that is placed in PISCES. When my mom first told me that cars were destroying the ozone layer and the trees were dying, I cried. Then I started a blog. This time around, however, I was inspired by less tragic events; I just knew that it was time to share what I believe and know.
The focus of my 2021 will surely be something within the realm of vulnerability. Expressing myself as often as possible has become a quest in this video game of mine. I’ve accepted that it comes with age, afterall it’s been a few years since I started this emotional journey and some aspects of it have seemed inevitable. Those unavoidable moments, when your heart is racing and you must tell someone how you honestly feel, regardless of their reaction to it, those moments are not ones I’ve created intentionally. But since they’ve come anyways, and I’ve found a pretty good rhythm to reacting to them, I could see myself moving on to starting these conversations, unafraid of what happens after. I am very excited to get to that point in myself.
I never set New Year’s Resolutions when I was younger; I always had goals anyways, any time of the year. Especially since I’ve dived into the world of astrology, where manifestations are occurring every day, the particular choice of January 1st now seems odd to me. Nonetheless, I encourage the introspection a new year brings, even if I don’t write a list of resolutions. I’m more of a spell in a cauldron on a full moon type of manifester. Although I must admit that not even the spells of witches can stop me from the shadow behind my shine: procrastination. Especially in the case of passion projects, procrastination as a concept turns more into the death of an idea rather than actual procrastination. I can disappoint myself endlessly, but I cannot disappoint others. That’s why I started this blog on the day SATURN and JUPITER were conjunct in AQUARIUS. I figured, this seems like the right time to start something I intend to keep alive. No more killing plants, especially when all I have is time, time, time.
Time is a strange thing. Have you noticed lately that it seems to be lining up a little too perfectly? Someone says something exactly as you thought it, or a spiritual number shows up on a clock or license plate, or a conversation with a stranger has opened up a new part of yourself? This is the boat I am in, personally, but maybe for you it’s the opposite? Maybe you just missed the chance to connect with someone, or have you found yourself hitting red light after red light? I find that humans are always in a duality, swinging back and forth between experiences, half of the world manifesting idealism and the other manifesting realism. Only balanced can we stay afloat. The stars in 2021 are leading to more people leaning towards the manifestation of idealism, however, with the heavy AQUARIUS influence early in the year, followed by JUPITER’s slight return to PISCES in May.
Based on my intuition alone, I believe that 2021 will be a year of light. The world has awakened with a new perspective of gratitude. In the past, other humans may have once existed solely as the traffic we hate, the customers we cannot satisfy, the internet opinions we disagree with, but now they are something else to us entirely. Now we know what exists in a world without our orbiting strangers, the people we see on our neighborhood walks, the mutual coffee shop regulars, the fans of similar music and shows on the internet. We know, more than ever before, that we need each other. I have personally felt the realization creep over me, during 2020, that in all the moments I disliked the human race I was just without gratitude. Now, everyday that I show up to my job at the neighborhood coffee shop I cannot stop thinking about how much I love to see other people, to feel the radiation of their warmth, to talk about anything we care for. With this in mind, I can see nothing but love and prosperity for the year of 2021. Today, a customer was talking about the new year. I told her, “You can feel it already. I woke up this morning just knowing that it was going to be a good year.” She said, “I felt that, too.” Please, if you don’t mind, comment below how you’re feeling about the year.

One Card for 2021… Reading for the Signs
Lets get an overview of the year for our calendars, hm? I will be using the Moonology Oracle deck for this reading, rather than a typical tarot deck.
Readings apply to Sun, Moon, Rising, Mercury, Mars, and Venus.
ARIES ♈︎
South Node ☋
I know that 2020 was hell for you. All your passion, energy, plans crumbled in the last 12 months. Even you, Aries, the master of even life’s most unpredictable moments, fell victim to the inability to flow with this year’s chaos. The most important thing for you is to not dwell on these series of setbacks. Don’t spend 2021 time traveling to 2020 just because you know what you would’ve done if you could only just… it’s a waste of time, you know that. Straighten your posture, look forward, and do what you do best. You keep moving no matter what obstacle lies in your path. This is no different.
TAURUS ♉︎
Fixed Moon 🜔
Just as it seemed like you were creating a foundation for yourself, providing stability to combat your fears, this year took away anything that even resembled a goal for you. Stay focused on what you set out to do this year. Try to avoid being lured toward alternative choices that have only just recently presented themselves. You had it right the first time around, even if that decision takes more work on your part. You’re simply learning about dealing with the unpredictable movements of life, which is important for you especially. You’re a fixed sign who got a fixed moon for your 2021 reading. As Mars soon moves into your sign, you will feel more yourself and realign with your original goals. Good job getting through this past year, Taurus.
GEMINI ♊︎
New Moon Eclipse 🌑︎
You’re one of the rare, mild-tempered signs of the zodiac. While, yes, you can become complete chaos, emotionally and physically, you’re one of the best at controlling your emotional impulses, saving them for the right time. So for the past year, you’ve been experiencing the extremes of this duality. Half the time you’re in total control, killing the game, acting like life is just the same as 2019 even though everything is completely different. Then there’s the other side of you, in complete disbelief at the rebirth of the world, emotionally overwhelmed by how to process the changes of society. Better things are coming for you, Gemini. You have made the effort and the benefits are arriving in 2021.
CANCER ♋︎
New Moon in Pisces 🌑︎ ♓︎
If you thought the year of sitting in your bed or on your couch and thinking about what life is all about is over, you would not be correct. You are still in the time of contemplation, Cancer, as you’ve spent a lot of time moving as fast as you can in the opposite direction of reality. Sure, you maintain a pretty decent reputation in your professional and personal relationships, but when you’re alone or in your head you travel very far away. Like I said, it’s not going to stop for a while. Take advantage of this time without distracting social experiences and use the time you would’ve spent on that meditating instead. As deeply emotional and intense as you may be, you’re still more likely to spend time distracting yourself than facing the truth. There is nothing for you to do this year than just be. Just be.
LEO ♌︎
Balsamic Moon 🌘︎
Take it easy, Leo. I’ve noticed that you spent the year running away from facing your trauma by working relentlessly to gain money, education, and property. When in doubt, you earn for material gain. I can’t blame you, especially in 2020, but that’s not what this next year is going to look like for you. 2021 is going to be nearly the opposite. Don’t worry, you’ll make your money and live life comfortably, but it’s more the emotional side of things that will drain you. It’s time for healing. It’s time to sit down on the couch and say, “What the fuck just happened?” Most of the other zodiac signs do that every day but you are different. You love going as long as you can pretending that everything you just experienced was normal and fine, just like you planned. It’s time to take a break this year and admit that healing is needed for you to take any steps further.
VIRGO ♍︎
Full Moon in Aries 🌕︎ ♈︎
Virgo has spent all of 2020 working, who’s surprised? The only surprise 2020 gave you is the forceful experience of patience. Everyone calls Aries the most impatient of all the signs, but you have to give yourself some credit, Virgo. When you make the actions for things to move, you hate when they don’t move. Worry not, my friend, 2021 will give you the climax you’ve been looking for. Whatever you’ve spent every new moon of the last year manifesting, it is on its way now. Don’t be surprised, however, when the experience is more intense than you imagined. Life comes at you fast. In any case, congratulations.
LIBRA ♎︎
Disseminating Moon 🌖︎
For the most part, you handled this past year pretty well. That’s the thing about you, balance really is your specialty even if most people don’t understand that. They just don’t understand your brand of chaos, which can be very balancing for you. In fact, 2020 is exactly what will inspire 2021’s impact on you. The secret thing about Libra is that they’ll get addicted to the social aspect of life until you give them a chance to sit down and think for a while. Then the deeply intellectual and thoughtful and even a little introverted part of Libra blooms. Well, that’s what 2021 will be about for you. Embrace the duality that has always existed within you. Your identity is no longer a collaboration of you and the people you love. No, now it is solely yours and you can change it anytime.
SCORPIO ♏︎
New Moon in Sagittarius 🌑︎ ♐︎
When it comes to 2020, you were winging it. Most of the time, you weren’t even attempting a plan. You took this year like a rollercoaster ride and thought nothing of it. I’ve always liked that about Scorpio. Cancer and Pisces may “go with the flow,” but you carve the rock with your flow. The universe asks us to trust ourselves in even the hardest times, and when you chose to do so this past year, you manifested many things for 2021. Imagine life was a video game where you always have exactly the tool you need in your pocket. This is exactly how the next year will go for you, given you’re still willing to trust yourself, the universe, and yes, even other human beings. Remember to love them, too, for the love will come back to you.
SAGITTARIUS ♐︎
Full Moon in Taurus 🌕︎ ♉︎
I wish I could live in the world you’ve created in your head. I know, that sounds like I’m trying to call you out, but I’m being honest. I would love to live in the world of Sagittarius; I imagine it would be like a nostalgic summer film, where the main characters’ silhouettes run off towards the sunset in the last scene. Unfortunately, this movie you’re making in your head isn’t serving the goals that you’ve happened upon along the way. All those things you want to do in the future, they require just a little more reality-based effort. Look, your perspective of the world is way realer than the one we all have to agree on, but we also need your insight. I’ve never met a Sagittarius who doesn’t disappear anytime they want. We need you here, too.
CAPRICORN ♑︎
New Moon in Leo 🌑︎ ♌︎
This upcoming year really encapsulates the issue you’ve struggled with for as long as you can remember: Confidence. You’re willing to make the plans, do the work, and manage the success. The only thing you’re lacking is the confidence to, at any given time, accept that this is who you are. Oh, to have Capricorn placements and not appreciate what a beautiful gift that is. I’ll take your Capricorn placement! 2021 is going to be the year you learn to love yourself. I mean, it’s about time, but I understand why it took you so long. You’re so good at giving you think that’s the only thing others want from you. But it’s you, Capricorn, just you that they want. Time to accept it.
AQUARIUS ♒︎
New Moon in Libra 🌑︎ ♎︎
Finally, it’s over! There’s nothing an air sign hates more than the experience of insecurity. Those waves, whether they’re just days or whole months, without your usual charismatic confidence can really feel like you’re dying. Don’t worry, soon you will be in love with yourself as usual. It’s those times of insecurity, of dependence on others, that reminds you that no matter how beautiful you may be, others are as irreplaceable as you. I don’t think there’s anything inherently selfish about being an Aquarius, but I do believe that they connect more to people within their own heads than in reality. What a strange duality it is to exist that way, knowing people deeply but being awkward or shy around them at times. You will not feel as out of place as you do right now in a few months. You know what the summer does to you, after all.
PISCES ♓︎
Waxing Crescent Moon 🌒︎
There is nothing more certain than the dreams of a Pisces. No matter how grand they may be, the Pisces will refer to them casually and use when never if. But there are times, dark times, where you might feel disconnected from the larger goal at hand. Maybe smaller situations have come into the picture, rearranging your timeline or original hypothesis. Trust that the unpredictable journey between dreaming and living is there specifically to make you the person you want to be. You are one of the best signs at finding the beauty of every moment, so don’t forget to use that superpower. Life will fly by far too fast for a daydreamer like you, if you don’t slow down and find stillness.

Featured Artist of the Month: Sawyer

I commissioned Sawyer to make a scene with my little family as a Christmas gift for my girlfriend. I was really excited to have Sawyer do this piece because I love his style. I plan on printing and framing the artwork for my wall. This month I’d like to share Sawyer’s art. It reminds me of that childlike perspective, while also acknowledging what it’s like to be older and dealing with heavier things. I would recommending sending Sawyer your support now, because his success is inevitable.
