If you’re anything like me, your journal has been collecting dust for about a month now. Personally, waking up every day of the past Gemini season was far too easy. My energy and sociability levels were at an all time high, making it easier to volunteer more, go hiking, spend time with friends, read my tarot & horoscope more, etc. Though just like that Cancer season rearranged the human reaction to life. Since the transition, I have used the snooze button more, found myself unwilling to leave my house, and crying at random times. All of which is an Aquarius’ nightmare.

And now, a poem inspired by Cancer’s impact on summer from my pov.

summer cancer (a poem)

let’s speak more of half-clothed, curtain-closed summer days.

plastic imitating flowers on our dollar store leis

we wear during our vodka lemonade phase,

if we didn’t have jobs we’d forget all our names

trade them instead for only temporary stays

in places others call home on winter days.

let’s speak more of our dreams during naps,

the drinks we consume during sociable laps

around the city which really only lacks

that dreaminess we chase when we sleep like cats.

summer is my favorite flavor

of love, passion, and human behavior,

the way we dance like it is our savior,

the way we do not consider what happens later.

there is only the now and a sprinkle of how.

there is an uneven pair of shoes in the lost and found

from going barefoot every time we go out.

i remember telling you i love you untruthfully,

by the pond down the path where the tadpoles roam free.

i remember my condensating beer and obvious fear

while i told you something you wanted to hear.

it always seemed like love in the passenger seat,

i held our takeout on my lap nice and neat,

thinking if there aren’t any rules you cannot cheat.

summer loves sweat-loving nats in the same regard.

without one another life wouldn’t be hard.

your dad is setting up a yard sale in your yard,

your mom is signing your name on the father’s day card.

we’re used to counting summers because of grade school,

here’s three months to change and return more cool.

the sun should tan your skin and freckle your face,

if you didn’t kiss anyone you’re another year too late.

eventually though we’re not in school anymore,

we’re just hungover at 11am on our bathroom floor,

wondering why we ever asked for more.

in the summer, this is all we need:

two hands, some dirt, and a single seed.

planting autumn in our dreams since we believed

that during the summer our inner child is freed.

here’s another day but i can’t wait a minute,

here’s a human life to live but i don’t want it,

here’s your bruised knee from the concrete.

if you could choose, where would we meet?

don’t be afraid of the moment,

if you show fear the moment will know it.

consume uncertainty like your favorite iced tea,

Rolling the Dice ✯ Reading for All Signs

A while ago I made the inevitable purchase of three twelve-sided astrology dice. One has the signs, another has the house, and the other has the planets. I want to use these dice in order to find any messages that come across. I tried to think of a specific reading that might benefit all signs, but I feel as though some divine messages need to come through that may not be easily categorized.
